TThe dahlia ‘Downham Royal’ is a classic ball dahlia variety, valued for its rich color and fully double, spherical blooms. In some sources, this variety is sometimes referred to as a pompon dahlia; however, botanically it belongs to the ball dahlia group.

The flowers are large and fully double, composed of broad, gently overlapping petals. Their color is an intense purple-violet with a subtle velvety sheen, especially vivid on sunny days. The blooms retain their beautiful shape throughout the flowering period.

The plant grows strong with sturdy stems and blooms abundantly from mid-summer until the first frosts. ‘Downham Royal’ is ideal for ornamental flower beds and for cutting, adding a rich color contrast to bouquets.
